Hypothesis on Thought

After a longtime am writing some stuff, what i presume is philosophical. Thanks for Prabhakar, who asked lots of questions to me on the subject below, which stirred up my thought.

Alright, coming to the point, this blog is my mini-research on relationship between language and thought. For a longtime, linguists and some proper-breeds always argued that language is the one which is driving one's thought. The strong point they made is, the syntax or the grammer of the thought is derived from one's native language. Does thought has a language of its own at all? Yes, it seems so. Everybody has their own grammatical structure, or in other words, everybody has their own language. But this theory can be very much ignored, because, language is replaced by other language. So many languages has died in the past and its continuing process. If language is the sole reason for one's thought, then that implies even on being knows more than one language he must always think in their native language. Thats simply not plausible, and not happening too.

To understand the origin of language one must understand the origin of thought. Ok, so from where and how thought is created. Any human being cannot think what he dont know. How he knows? Because he has senses. Senses are our door to the world. Without sense, we wont really grasp or realise what is present. Brain will perceive things through the sense, and through one's own 'language' it stores that information. That 'Self-language' is the accumulation of knowledge since birth. Syntactical & grammer structures of this language are entirely based on the individual. But there lies a association or similarity in the people who are brought up in a similar way. That association is vastly driven by culture or family.

Note: So now, if that human is not able to think what he dont know, how new things are invented? Creativity or invention is nothing but putting the puzzle right. The pieces are available to everyone. Thats why creativity is a property of an individual and not something which can be taught.

It would be easy to study the origin of language, if one starts from the origin of any word. Field of etymology & philology is very useful in finding this truth. To continue we need to have some assumptions. All the languages are invented by human beings only. As per science modern age men is the result of evolution. The body parts responsible for producing sound mut had undergone the process of evolution. Particularly the vocal chords. The sound produced can be classified into before & after vocal chord evolution. That must be the reason for the common sounds present in all the languages.

Apart from language, other main components of thought is sense - feeling. Since senses are the first gateway for us to the world, it is very much a satisfactory argument that language is born out of sense i.e. feeling. Based on the feel or sense, expression is created on the body as a whole (not just on the face). These expressions will again be noticed or observed or sensed or feeled. Brain will quickly process that information. Processing means the communication between the neurons. Neurons work on the basis of electro-chemical signalling. The more the information, faster the neurons work. And if the neurons are trained to work slower, then it process accordingly. Movement of muscles, secretion of glands locating from one place to another are all based on this function.

Just this experience is called as thought.

To communicate this experience to another being we need a language.

People normally live together. We are used to convey all the things which are occuring to us, to others. Thus, the experience we had through the feeling also must be communicated. That means the language must be constructed to convey it, and that language is generated through the neurons automatically and continuosly.

Similar to the way people tend to memorise things in the form of images, languages help us to memorise things which can't be mapped to an image. Moreover those things which are not experienced by one self can also be easily remembered through the tag provided by language.

Water Economy

Everyone who came this far might be well aware of the problems created by petrol. Also you know, that there are no solution available by the book. People has to live with it. We all are prey to the so called big barons of oil. If tis instant is the peak stress period of oil, the ground works were started pretty earlier. Since the secret of oil economy is out, the money-dwellers might be thinking about some other weapon. Am not sure about the target. But why cant we just speculate over this.
Top bounty goes to Water. Next comes the Electricity. This list can include all the stuff that any comman man make use in his dailylife.

To get a clear understanding of how the oil economy had been established, please read Carbonomics published by OPEC. Its a single stop for all your questions related to that topic.

Water usage of as of now:
Water is a freely distributed resource, with all the rights duly given to citizen. Any citizen got to pay for it if he requires a clean and hygiene one. That option is not for urban people, only holds good to people who lives in rural area. Village people can make use of the river/lake.(if at all there). Town household cans still depend upon well water. Metro/City people got to purchase water for all their utilization right from drinking to sanitary purpose. Usage of water gets varied by the living standard. Ability to purchase, even the water.

Any government's fundamental duty of fulfilling the basic needs of men are gone. The survival is purely depended upon his fight to survive. Got to earn everything to lead the life (decent life).
So, the current scenario sums up to water scarcity more or less.

Reasons for water scarcity: Lack of education to people about the importance of water & Lack of appropiate measures by government to sustain the water table. Inclusions of all the reasons is not worth arguing. The effects of the water scarcity is more vivid here.
So, the point is there is a huge demand for water.
Common men economy, wherever the demand rises, price rises proportionately.

Water Economy:
What's the possibility of making a war out of this?
Considering the below activities it must be said that it already has started.
To avail loan from the WorldBank, one must privatise the water sector in its own country. The fragile reason behind this is, the returns out of that sector is guarenteed, so that, WB will get back its money. It seems that WB has forgot the primary responsibility it upholds. Instead of bringing up a poor or developing country into a developed or improved country it is sucking the wealth of the nations. There are numerous examples of this. Samples are available here.

Private companies taking ownership of water sector. As of now 5% of the population is served by private bodies. Private bodies pitch-in saying that, the efficieny of serving will be improved. Every single citizen will get the resource. But completely the reverse is happenning. Even in India where water is still under public sector, city people are buying can water. Scenario of private sector is defnitely unimaginable. Consoling part is that India government's response to water privatisation is so far negative.
If at all reasonable, the developed countries must think about serving the water efficiently.
The question is not about which is good, Public or Private?
It's about how to serve people.
Someone needs to teach these guys about democracy.

Privitization of water might lead to the following causes of inefficient serving, increased price, bad customer support. It's  well discussed here.

A list of case studies of countries already practising this are briefed out here.

This topic of water privitisation is a comprehensie subject in itself. This is just a startup. People who are more thirsty about this can do their own research.

Future Control of Food

Am getting there.. After a two long months of gap i finally sat down to type my views. My angry over the other side of the world is still with me even after changing places. I feel that to be a good thing. Ok, now coming to the point. I was actually asking my friends to suggest topics to write down. Friend of mine, Sankari, suggested a topic on Junk Food consumption India. It's absolutely astonishing to see the effects it made in the rural India. But there are lots of other things which attracted my attention when i was studying for that topic. How food is controlled? Following details does pertain to whole world, and not just for India

How food is controlled?

What exactly compromises food? Right from plants, flowers, micro-organisms, domestic animals - every organic stuff thats been consumed will come under food.

As per the Indian constitution Act, Right to Food is one of the basic rights that all of the citizen must exercise. None of the countries in this world is self-sufficient. Everyone has to depend upon trade. Trade policies and international agreements must be written in such a way that it must provide food to all. All the international bodies are saying so. Obviously its not true.

There are 195 countries in this world.

Total population of the world is 6.77 Billion

850 million people are suffering from Undernourishment.

2 Billion people got hit by Malnutrition.

Contradictory part is 1 Billion have a problem of over weight. (300 million have Obesity issue).

How does this imbalance happenning? Any kid will answer that, the distribution of food is not fair. Above facts can be verified here.

Leaving the usual reasons of political and economical gains for the above problem, lets dwelve deep into the hidden industry of IP.

Intellectual Property (IP) Rights are similar to Copyrights and patent stuff. Only difference being any work of art (creation) inclusive of commercial can be patented. Simply put, granting ownership for the creative work of mind, and thereby totally enjoying a monopoly over the benefits. What a digital licensing is for media, IP is for intangible assets. The process of farming is a tedious one as everyone must be aware of. What this got to do with food?

Seed production is a general process which is carried out by farmers. The entry point for the corporate is this. They had taken over this by citing the very reason of producing hybrid, special seeds. Lots of R&D happened and were happening to promote hybrid quality of plants. These hybrid seeds are marketed on the basis of improving the food that is produced. Not only that, they are capable of disease resistance, pest resistance, drought tolerance (!), improved consumption etc.

Simply put this is referred to as Privatization or patenting of Agriculture Innovation.

Agriculture has reached a new level. It lot depends upon technology. Equipments, fertilizers, pesticides are all gaining from agro-business. Small scale agriculturists with mariginal lands are under a threat of losing business if they didnt cope up with modern technology. Such a scenario had been imposed upon. Breeders under the mask of corporates are eating up the profits of farmers.

Regardless of the multiple conventions , enormous civil bodies, international agreements the level of the farmer had never been an uprising one. Plant Breeder's rights (PBR) seems to be holding the things in control, but not necessarily. These organisations start from WTO.

Irrespective of the civil bodies introduced to help for the uprising of the farmer's status, they are simply eating them up. The trade negotiations and agreements which are framed by the WTO and WHO are playing a little part from their side, if at all.

Control of food is very little as of now. Its taking its time for the big game. If you want to realise this fact, think how much you spend for the Junk food in your life. Junk food seems to be the first step in the whole agenda. The reasoning behind this is: make people consume the same stuff and with the same taste, then that will make them addictive to it. Give it a little thought. How food become a branded one? What is the next step? Making the ingredients as branded stuff. How that can be achieved? Through patents, breeders rights, IP etc.

This blog is not an comprehenive one. As i had collected lots of fact related to this, its too much to expect you to make study it all. So please wait for the next blog.
